Business Leaders Must Rethink Networking For The Microsoft Cloud

Business leaders today know that customer satisfaction can only skyrocket when their organization adopts the cloud, and implements and executes on a successful digital transformation strategy. After all, according to the Riverbed Digital Performance Global Survey 2018, 99% of business decision makers agree that digital, including the delivery of digital services/apps, is critical for future business success.

While the need for digital transformation and the applicability of cloud services are well established, business leaders must make sure their organizations are on the fastest path to success in leveraging cloud services, such as Microsoft Azure. Riverbed is committed to helping customers on that path, delivering them the agility, flexibility, and application performance required to stay competitive in today’s digital world.

One of the ways we’re addressing this is through our long-standing relationship with Microsoft.  We just introduced a series of new, powerful Microsoft product integrations, enabling mutual customers to leverage next-gen infrastructure from Riverbed along with their Microsoft investments– whether it be in the cloud with Azure or at the edge with Hyper-V – to drive business results and maximize digital performance.

Seamless integration of the Azure Virtual WAN and Riverbed’s SteelConnect SD-WAN

Through Riverbed’s SD-WAN solution SteelConnect, customers will now be able to automate local branch path steering for Office 365 via conventional internet broadband or by leveraging the Azure Virtual WAN, a global network backbone for managed site-to-site and branch-to-Azure connectivity.  By using the SteelConnect Manager policy engine and intuitive graphical interface, users can extend software-defined policies for steering traffic for selected applications or digital services, users or entire locations into the Azure Virtual WAN with just a few clicks.

This solution is already having an impact with early adopter customers and partners. Sword Group, an international consulting, services and software enterprise is one such company that is using the integration between Riverbed SteelConnect and Azure Virtual WAN.

“As a multi-national company, Sword needs to connect all around the world and provide interconnectivity and digital services. With Riverbed’s SteelConnect and Microsoft’s Azure Virtual WAN, we are able to deploy locations in minutes easily in a few steps, control the access, and remove complex and expensive scenarios—all while delivering cloud workloads close to the users,” said Guillaume Mottard, COO at Sword Group. “This capability will allow Sword to engage in new markets with greater speed and agility.”

This announcement builds on Riverbed’s broader vision to enable unified connectivity and orchestration across the entire distributed network. SteelConnect also enables zero-touch provisioning, allowing an enterprise to set-up a global network and connect to the cloud in minutes, and easy ongoing network management that provides the ability to make quick and easy network or business/application policy changes.

Riverbed SteelFusion announces support for Microsoft Hyper-V

Riverbed is also extending our SteelFusion cloud edge offering for Microsoft Hyper-V customers, further expanding on its ability to provide enterprises with flexible and secure architectures, dramatically simplifying operations at the edge of the network. Enterprises and organizations who have selected Microsoft Hyper-V as their hypervisor of choice will now be able to leverage SteelFusion for distributed IT, and fully realize its software-defined value, with the flexibility and agility to instantly deploy and centrally manage edge services, data and applications to any number of remote branches and sites.

As customers continue to go all in on digital and the cloud, we look forward to continuing our collaboration with Microsoft and together, helping customers drive innovation and digital performance, so they can rethink possible.
