We became lighter…

By Lucía Helguera

When we think of something light, we think of agility, weight and of the ability to move without difficulty. What’s heavy moves slowly and needs a great effort to overcome the resistance to reach the new without getting stuck.

At Arkano we are constantly reflecting on how to stay agile —and light— so we’re ready to take the next step. This is not an individual attribute, it’s a team attitude. Facing challenges is not just doing something. Is being someone.

When we became lighter, we understood that results are found when we move the ball around the pitch, while combining individual efforts towards common goals. Achievement comes when we analyze the possibilities and remain flexible, and committed to the team. Becoming lighter is learning to go beyond resistance to change. It is the courage to face the uncomfortable.

The pandemic brought us virtuality, and remote work and taught us that becoming lighter allows us to reach further. It also showed us that we must coordinate to transform ourselves whenever necessary.

We learned many things when we became lighter, but above all, that stopping isn’t an option. Thinking like that is more necessary than ever. We became lighter, in a good way. The real strength will always be in people on the move.

Guaranteeing universal access to medicine and stregthening pharmaceutical innovation: are these goals compatible?

The European Commission has presented a proposal to reform the pharmaceutical market and ensure access to quality medicines, broad coverage, and affordable prices for all citizens of the European Union. The proposal aims to prevent the loss of competitiveness in the European pharmaceutical industry and is based on three pillars: accessibility, availability, and affordability. In Latin America, equitable access to medicines remains a challenge, and it is essential to raise awareness of initiatives from other regions that can have a positive impact on universal health coverage.
